This float fly has been scheduled since early this year but was somehow overlooked when we transitioned to the new website and didn’t make it onto the online schedule. Sincere apologies from your humble webmaster.

New members Jeff and Jonathan Powers flew their new warbird last evening, pictured here. It’s a Hangar 9 P-47 Thunderbolt with mechanical retracts, powered by a 70 4-stroke. It looks and sounds great in the air.

Be sure to introduce yourself if you see them at the field!

Members: if you have pictures you’d like to see online, please send them to Justin.

July 2007 Meeting Minutes Posted: July 11, 2007

Model of the Month July 2007 Though we gathered for a meeting tonight, our regularly scheduled meeting turned into an impromptu work day for the club in light of the mass of fallen tree limbs. The only official business we managed to complete was to award the Model of the Month to young master Ryan Farmer who showed his World Models Sky Raider.

Ryan’s Sky Raider is powered by an OS .46AX glow engine. Ryan has been flying it for the last few weeks with the help of his dad. Good job Ryan!

We also have a late addition to this month’s event schedule: Chad Stinson wants to host a float fly at his house on July 22.  Be there!

Cleaning up fallen limbsThe rest of the meeting time was spent cleaning up the mess left behind by the storm earlier this week. Several members brought tools to help cut the fallen limbs and trailers to haul away the debris.

Sadly, a good portion of the shade that we have enjoyed for so many years is now gone and what’s left may not be around for long. We’ll have to see how the remaining trees recover. Thanks to everybody who pitched in and helped out with the chain saws, hauling off of debris and sweat. For more pictures, check out this gallery.

Calling all Chainsaws…

Storm DamageSure to be on the agenda at tonight’s meeting is the cleanup of the damage from Monday night’s storms. In this picture gallery you can see that maybe 60-70% of the trees that cover the shelter have been toppled to the ground. It’s going to require some serious chainsaw work to remove all that debris.

A check of the data from the Oklahoma Mesonet station across the street at the National Weather Center shows wind gusts over 70 mph.
