January 11th Meeting Hilights Posted: January 13, 2012

We had a record 20 members endure the cold weather in order to participate in our first meeting of the new year headed by president John Harwell.

The CORCS tags for 2012 now have magnets on them rather than the former clothes-line clip. We’ll have some metal frequency strips installed before long to use with these tags. We will also be replacing the old lock pretty soon since many members have been having problems opening it. But remember to always lock the gate if you are the last one to leave!

For those interested in finding new and exciting R/C deals, there will be a Swap-Meet in Prague at the Community Center tomorrow (Saturday) morning beginning at 8 AM.

For Show-and-Tell, Bob O’Connor displayed his new DLE20 gas-powered 2-cycle engine.

Finally, the January 2012 Model-of-the-Month, by unanimous vote, went to Gene Kersey for his Douglas C-47 (shown in the photo below) and was flown by Gerry Weltzheimer on January 1st. The plane has about an 81″ wing span powered by two OS 25 2-stroke engines and is very quick! You can read more about the full-scale, military aircraft the kit was modeled after here on Wikipedia.

Thanks to John Harwell for providing the recent photo of Gene proudly displaying his award and the winning C-47 Skytrain.
